Shaunte Cooper was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. At a very young age, she lost her father to alcohol poisoning. In order to help her cope with her loss, she began to write ‘Dear Dad’ letters in her compass journal. She would spend hours writing away in her room or at school just to feel better.

Around eleven years old, she would sneak off to her foster mother’s room and read one of the books she would always grab from the library before coming home. Thanks to her, Shaunte became more and more intrigued with each different urban fiction book she would pick up and read. As she got older, she stumbled upon urban paranormal fiction and it blew her mind.
